Off-Strip Stabbing in Las Vegas Kills Man, and the Suspect is a Child

A man in his 40s died Monday night near the Las Vegas Strip after a child allegedly attacked him with a knife. The man was badly cut in an apartment when he tried to stop a fight between his girlfriend’s two children.

Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) came and gave the first emergency care. When EMTs got there, they rushed the man to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

At about 7:20 p.m., something bad happened at an apartment building on Koval Lane, near Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard.

The fight between the two kids was what set off the whole thing. It got worse and became a fight.

The kids’ mother also tried to stop them from fighting with each other. As the two adults tried to help, one of the kids grabbed a knife, and police say that child then stabbed the man.

The apartment was home to all four people. KLAS, a local TV station, said that as of early Tuesday, the three survivors were either helping local police or were in custody.

Most likely, an autopsy will be done on the person who died to find out how and why they died. The investigation is said to have been taken over by the LVMPD’s homicide unit.

No one knew right away how old the child who stabbed the adult was, and it wasn’t clear what charges would be brought.

The stabbing that killed someone happened near a few casinos. A quarter mile away is the Horseshoe Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. Last year, there were a lot of stabbings and other crimes on or near the Strip.

Attacks near Wynn

Two of eight people sliced on October 6 died. Perhaps the worst.

After asking showgirls to pose with a large knife, the suspect stabbed them near the Wynn Las Vegas.

Yoni Barrios, 32, was found incompetent to stand trial in December. Barrios was accused with two murders with a dangerous weapon and six attempted murders.

If convicted, he may have been executed. KTNV, another local TV station, stated he would be transported to a Nevada psychiatric facility instead of court.

Two of the three psychiatrists who examined Barrios stated he cannot be tried now, according to the report. He didn’t comprehend the criticism. He also couldn’t help his lawyer prepare to defend him.

Barrios will receive mental health treatment while hospitalized.

Experts could assess his competency later. He might be tried for the stabbings if sane.

Fox News said that Immigration and Customs Enforcement discovered Barrios was a Guatemalan who had illegally entered the US (ICE).
